The Fountain at The Circle is all but back to normal — a new normal, with completely revamped works, a pristine, newly lined main pool and freshly scrubbed upper pools and bear cubs. So we’ve taken down our banner that alerted the community to the work going on and expressed our gratitude for all those whose generous donations helped make it possible.

In case you somehow missed it, though, here’s an image of the banner. Though it is gone, the sentiment remains: Thanks to everyone in the Berkeley community — and beyond — for your continuing support of this landmark and nearby Fountain Walk. Thanks also to the City of Berkeley crews who carried out much of the work, and to longtime FOFW leaders Sara and Harvard Holmes, who put in innumerable hours of volunteer labor making sure the job was done right.

A final note: In this time of drought, please know that the fountain operates on a closed system that recycles the water it uses, ensuring that only a minimal amount is lost. We’ve also significantly reduced the amount of water circulating in the fountain.
