Friends and neighbors:

Mark your calendars!

On Thursday, Nov. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friends of the Fountain and Walk will join with Northbrae Community Church to present an illustrated talk about our unique neighborhood: its colorful history, the origins and restoration of the Fountain at The Circle and Fountain Walk, and many other intriguing facts about this more than century-old district of Berkeley.

We will be joined by local historian Dave Weinstein, author of “It Came from Berkeley” and “Signature Architects of the San Francisco Bay Area,” who will speak about the life and work of John Hudson Thomas, an accomplished architect who designed the original Northbrae church and many fine homes in Northbrae and around Berkeley.

Refreshments and light snacks will be served, and merchandise from Friends of the Fountain and Walk and other organizations will be available for purchase.

Please join us in historic Haver Hall at Northbrae Community Church, 941 The Alameda at Los Angeles Avenue, for this illuminating look a neighborhood that’s been declared one of America’s best and the neighborhood nonprofit that helps ensure the preservation of its signature landmarks.

The program will begin at 7 p.m., leaving time for a question-and-answer session and socializing. There is a 150-guest capacity with unreserved seating. A $10 donation at the door is suggested; no one will be turned away. Accessible entry from the church parking lot; street parking is available nearby.
