Some exciting recent developments to share involving Friends of the Fountain and Walk:
Cover story: Our organization is featured in this month’s issue of Berkeley Hills Living magazine. You can read the story online here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B2

History preserved: FOFW’s archives are now in the collection of the Berkeley Historical Society and Museum. Thanks to longtime FOFW leaders Sara and Harvard Holmes and supporter Barbara Zuber Goldstein, the historical records of our organization from its beginnings more than 30 years ago have been organized, digitally copied and handed over for safekeeping (and future research purposes) to BHS. FOFW owes a debt of thanks especially to the Holmeses for their continued dedication to the organization years after they stepped down from their roles as president and treasurer.
Walking tour sold out: FOFW’s first public event since the start of the pandemic takes place this weekend: a walking tour focused on Northbrae history, with special attention to the historic fountain and walk area. The walk is sold out, but we hope to offer another one in the near future.
Lanterns to light again: Also this weekend, at noon on Saturday, Aug. 9, the FOFW-supported effort to restore another element of Northbrae history comes to fruition, with the unveiling of newly fabricated bronze lanterns to top the large stone pillars at the intersection of Hopkins Street and The Alameda. The event is free and open to the public. More information is here: https://berkeleypubliclibrary.libnet.info/event/14041104
