January 4, 2025 | Happy New Year from Friends of the Fountain and Walk!

Friends and neighbors:

Just a note to say happy new year and thank you for your continuing support of our small, all-volunteer neighborhood nonprofit.

We are very grateful to members of our community — both longtime supporters and those who are brand new — for their generous donations of dollars and of volunteer time. We could not fulfill our mission without you.

The photo above was taken on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 4, just after volunteers took down the holiday decorations that had adorned the Fountain at The Circle since late November. Even without the added lights and wreaths on the grizzly bear cubs, it still looks great.

Thank you again for working with us as we partner with the City of Berkeley to maintain and preserve these community treasures. Happy new year!

I look forward to the decor every year. I do wish you’d leave it up until 1/6, Christmas is still happening and my family, Catholic and Jewish so enjoy the festive reminder. MC & HH

Hello, Anne. Sorry for the late reply. We usually put the decorations up just after Thanksgiving and leabve them up until the first Saturday in January, which is when our monthly workday around The Circle takes place. In 2026, that will be Jan. 3. But if the weather is bad, it could be pushed to Jan. 10!
