July 1, 2025 | Northbrae History Walking Tour: Aug. 9
Leave your thoughts | Categorised in: EventsFriends and neighbors:
Registration is open for our Saturday, Aug. 9, walking tour of the Northbrae neighborhood that is home to Berkeley’s Fountain at The Circle and Fountain Walk.
Participants will learn about the history of the fountain and its whimsical grizzly bear cubs, Berkeley’s first public work of art; about these landmarks’ role in an ill-fated effort to make Berkeley the capital of California; and about the neighbor-led drive to restore the fountain and walk in the 1990s. The walk will also take note of the area’s earlier history and other neighborhood landmarks, both natural and architectural.
The approximately 2-hour tour will begin promptly at 10 a.m. at The Circle and is limited to a maximum of 40 people. The route includes a short climb or two.
To register and claim your place, go online to northbraetour.rsvpify.com. The cost is $10 per person; payment is by credit card only.
Hope to see you there!
