Today a small group of volunteers gathered in The Circle to take down the holiday decorations that have adorned the center island and the bear cub sculptures on the Fountain at The Circle. It’s always a bittersweet task, as it signifies that the holidays are over and our Berkeley version of winter has really arrived. For the past month, the lighted garlands and the wreath- and kippah-adorned bears brightened our early dusk evenings.
We hope you enjoyed seeing them as you traversed the sometimes chaotic traffic circle, and that you were able to come by when things were calmer and enjoy the view. We enjoy making the fountain an even more charming destination than usual each year.
We also want to take this opportunity to say how thankful we are to our community for your continued generous support of our work to preserve and enhance the fountain, The Circle and Fountain Walk. It is incredibly gratifying to see how much Berkeley values these public treasures.
Wishing you a happy and healthy 2024!
