Friends and neighbors:

While Friends of the Fountain and Walk works to rethink and restock its own online store (clicking on our “Shop” link will tell you it is on hiatus), anyone in search of fountain-themed greeting card and gift possibilities can still find them elsewhere. Here are some that let you buy local and support FOFW:

Greeting/note cards and magnets by Steven Jenner: Steve is a terrific local photographer who has a few fountain-related cards and magnets — some holiday-themed featuring the fountain’s bear cubs — for sale at several local stores. You can view them here. Then click on the “Store” link on that page to find out where you can buy them. (Steve’s cards are also for sale at FOFW events, where all proceeds benefit FOFW.)

Berkeley fountain t-shirts at Aiken Clothing: Aiken (formerly Convert)  is a Fourth Street clothing retailer that carries a line of custom, organic cotton t-shirts — including one that features an image of the fountain bear cubs and a script “Berkeley.” Aiken has two outlets across the street from each other at 1809 and 1844 Fourth Street. Aiken donates a portion of each sale of this t-shirt to FOFW.

New children’s storybook by Hope Alper: Circle neighbor and writer Hope Alper has produced a new children’s book just in time for the holidays: “The Chanukah Bears of Marin Circle.” The book, with illustrations by Jennifer Silverman, tells a magical tale about how the fountain bears started wearing kipots, or yarmulkes, during the holidays. The 28-page book is for sale at a a number of local stores (including Fern’s Garden, Pegasus Books and Yves’ Judaica on Solano Avenue) and by contacting Hope by email at hopeworkspr@pacbell.net. (Hope pledges a donation to FOFW for any books she sells — each is $14 plus postage –to those who connect to her that way.)

Check back in the new year to see if our online store is up and running again. And … if you are someone who would like to volunteer to help FOFW make that happen, we could use you — especially if you have experience in producing and selling items online. Please contact us at FountainandWalk@gmail.com.

Thanks and happy holidays!

— The FOFW Board of Directors
